It is with great pleasure, as a representative of my colleagues from the research and teaching staff, that I welcome you to the site of the Department of Economics and Regional Development of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. Searching through its sites, as you will see, you will be able to find information about the structure, the personnel, the course of studies at the undergraduate, the graduate and the doctoral level, the research activities, and the academic services which are offered such as the professional prospects available to you once you successfully complete the program.
Our department was founded in 1989 and was initially called the “Department of Urban and Regional Development”. Today it offers a modern course of studies which aims at the in depth study and acquisition of Economic and Regional Science. The educational and research activities of the department are focused on two main scientific fields (Applied Economic Science and Regional Science), and it is divided into two subject areas: Political Economy and Regional Science. The department is one of a number of Economic Departments at the University level and it offers programs at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level.
Every year we accept more than 200 students into our undergraduate program, up to 30 into our graduate program in the fields of Applied Economics and Administration as well as Urban and Regional Development, and 20-25 doctoral candidates. As you progress in your studies, you will be able to find useful and timely information on our site with regard to every academic issue related to your studies in addition to issues related to the academic community of our University.
